Transform Your Days and Nights with THX® Entertainment

Extract every last drop of performance from your home theater budget with the THX® Select2™ Plus-certified TX-NR727. Three-Stage Inverted Darlington Circuitry for all seven channels ensures reference-level playback of your hi-res media. DSX® surround expansion, MultEQ® speaker calibration, and real-time Dynamic EQ® technology—all from class-leader Audyssey—treat the listener to a cinematic experience that’s so realistic you can almost smell the popcorn. For music lovers, built-in Wi-Fi allows you to stream 192/24 hi-res, lossless, and compressed audio directly from smartphone and tablet, or from PC and NAS using our remote app to control playback. The app also enables quick selection of internet radio and streaming service channels. Or, if you prefer, simply pair and stream using onboard Bluetooth technology. To expand beyond the living room, a selection of powered outputs and line-outs are on hand for synchronized audio in up to three zones around the home. With eight 4K- and 3D-ready HDMI® inputs, two outputs (one with ARC), and 4K video upscaling via Qdeo™ technology, the TX-NR727 takes its place at the very top of the class.

THX® Select2™ Plus for Reference-Level Sound

To be awarded THX Select2 Plus certification—the most rigorous performance benchmark for this type of product—the home theater receiver must play at studio reference volume levels with minimal distortion. Select2 Plus is specified for screen-to-seat distances of three to four meters and room volumes of about 56 cubic meters.

Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Streaming Technology

The TX-NR727 connects to the wireless home network without LAN cables or adapters. Send a huge range of hi-res, lossless, and compressed files to your home theater from smartphone, PC, tablet, NAS, and online sources using our remote control app. Or pair devices for quality wireless streaming using the built-in Bluetooth technology.

An Introduction to High-End Sound Quality

Onkyo’s WRAT (Wide Range Amp Technology) includes discrete low-negative-feedback amplifiers for punchy, true-to-life sound; closed ground-loop circuits to reduce noise; and high instantaneous current to counter impedance fluctuations. Three-Stage Inverted Darlington Circuitry is used on all channels to handle reference-level playback without distorting.

Audyssey DSX® and Dolby® Pro Logic® IIz for Expanded Surround Sound

Audyssey DSX lets you augment your setup with two Front Wide channels, expanding the width of the soundstage, or two Front Height speakers to add a vertical dimension to movies and games. Dolby Pro Logic IIz offers Front Height channels with 7.1-channel upmixing from stereo sources.

4K Video Upscaling via Qdeo™ Technology

The TX-NR727 uses Qdeo™ technology from Marvell to upscale standard video sources to brilliantly smooth 1080p (for regular HDTVs) and to an incredible 4K on compatible displays.

App-Controllable Multi-Zone Audio

The TX-NR727 features Powered Zone 2 outputs and Zone 2/3 line-outs. This lets you assign two channels to power audio in a room equipped with speakers. An existing hi-fi system in a third room can also be connected via the line-out, enabling the use of the A/V receiver as a pre-amp and audio server. Control content in all three zones via remote app; play the same song in all zones; or enjoy a different song in every room.

  •   Audyssey MultEQ®/Dynamic Volume®

    Audyssey MultEQ®

Audyssey MultEQ seamlessly equalizes and balances the output of your satellite speakers and subwoofers to suit the unique shape of your listening space, compensating for unwanted acoustic reflections from the walls, floor, and furniture. This creates a more enveloping, cohesive soundstage, projects movie dialog clearly from the center of the screen, and contributes to more convincing directional and ambient effects. Measuring across six listening positions during its one-time setup routine, MultEQ applies two high-resolution filters to satellite speakers and 128 filters to the subwoofer(s). The system also features adaptive low-frequency correction while automatically controlling crossovers, polarity, delays, and levels.

    Audyssey Dynamic Volume®

This technology allows you to set the volume level that you want and keep it there, without having to constantly adjust it. By anticipating sudden spikes and dips in the audio soundtrack and compensating for them in real time, Audyssey Dynamic Volume ensures consistent volume levels, regardless of the content you’re enjoying. Thanks to Audyssey Dynamic Volume, quiet dialogue is easier to pick up, loud passages retain their impact, and commercials are less intrusive.

Recent versions of HDMI also incorporate an ARC (Audio Return Channel) for sending audio from the TV tuner through the connected receiver, and for enabling the use of an overlaid high-definition GUI (Graphical User Interface) on Onkyo A/V receivers.

  •   Audyssey DSX®

Audyssey DSX lets you augment a standard 7.1-channel surround set-up with two “front wide” channels*. Two extra speakers expand the width of the soundstage and help to produce a more realistic and immersive listening experience. Alternatively, Audyssey DSX can be configured to deliver “front height” channels. These channels carry non-directional audio that adds a new vertical dimension to your movies and games.

*Front Wide channels are not available with TX-NR616 and TX-NR609.

  •   DTS-HD Master Audio™

DTS-HD Master Audio™ is capable of delivering audio that is bit-for-bit identical to the studio master. DTS-HD Master Audio™ delivers audio at super-high variable bit rates—24.5 Mbps on Blu-ray Disc—which is significantly higher than standard DVDs. This bit stream is so fast, and the transfer rate is so high, that it can deliver 7.1 audio channels at a sampling frequency of 24 bits—identical to the original. With DTS-HD Master Audio™, you will be able to experience movies and music exactly as the artist intended: clear, pure, and uncompromised.

  •   Dolby® TrueHD/Pro Logic® IIz

    Dolby® TrueHD

Together with high-definition video, it offers an unprecedented home theater experience. Now listeners can enjoy sound as stunning as the high-definition picture.

    Dolby® Pro Logic® IIz

Dolby Pro Logic IIz adds a vertical dimension to your home theater soundstage, delivering an expanded surround-sound experience from any 5.1-channel or stereo source. Dolby Pro Logic IIz enables the inclusion of two Front Height speakers into your surround-sound setup. The Height channels carry ambient, non-directional audio that helps immerse you even more deeply into your movies and games. With Dolby Pro Logic IIz, rain seems to burst from clouds right above you, and helicopters fly realistically overhead.

  •   Qdeo™ Technology

Qdeo is a versatile video processor that uses algorithms designed to erase video noise and artifacts such as jaggies and feathering. Played back on a compatible wide-screen display, your Blu-ray Discs and DVDs will look more detailed and cinematic than ever.

  •   192 kHz/24-Bit Audio DACs

192 kHz/24-bit DACs enable the best possible reproduction of standard and high-definition audio formats.

  •   InstaPrevue™

Selected Onkyo A/V receivers feature licensed InstaPrevue visual input management technology by Silicon Image. InstaPrevue technology displays a series of thumbnail videos on screen representing the available content on devices connected via HDMI. The feature is accessed via the Home Menu screen. InstaPrevue technology makes switching HDMI inputs and choosing content much easier.

  •   Zone 3

In addition to a Zone 2 line-out, selected Onkyo A/V receivers feature a Zone 3 line-out that allows an audio source to be distributed to a third room equipped with an amplifier and speakers. Users can play up to three audio sources across three zones simultaneously.

  •   Powered Zone 2

Selected Onkyo network receivers feature Powered Zone 2. Two additional surround channels may be assigned to send an amplified audio signal via a set of cables to stereo speakers in another room. An audio source from the receiver may be played back in either or both zones, or two different audio sources played in either room simultaneously.

  •   Phase-Matching Bass Boost

The negative effects of phase-shift—or the timing difference between sound waves of different frequencies—can sometimes be heard in audio players when corners are cut in order to increase bass response. While most audio systems have some form of low-frequency enhancement system, often a bigger bass sound comes at the expense of mid-range clarity, and results in a smeared or muddy sound. Our Phase-Matching Bass Boost technology avoids this problem by improving the phase timing to preserve the natural clarity of the mid-range—allowing vocals and strings to shine—while maintaining a smooth, powerful bass response at all volume levels.

  •   Bluetooth Wireless Streaming Technology

Bluetooth is a wireless transmission standard that uses shortwave radio signals to connect mobile devices to computers and other compatible electronics. Selected Onkyo products and accessories feature onboard Bluetooth technology—or compatibility with Onkyo’s UBT-1 Bluetooth USB Adapter—to enable wireless audio playback from mobile devices.

  •   Wi-Fi Certified

To achieve Wi-Fi certification, products are tested according to the industry’s 802.11 standards for interoperability, security, reliability, and ease of installation. Products with the Wi-Fi Certified logo have been tested in a variety of configurations and with a diverse range of other devices to ensure compatibility with equipment operating in the same frequency band.

  •   USB

Selected Onkyo A/V receivers, Blu-ray Players, hi-fi and stereo components feature at least one USB port. ‘Made for iPod’ and ‘Made for iPhone’ means the connection is specifically designed to interface with iPod, iPod touch, and iPhone*. ‘Direct Digital Connection’ means audio signals are transported in digital form (rather than analog) for clearer, more accurate sound. A USB port also lets you play a range of audio formats including MP3, WMA, WMA Lossless, AAC, and FLAC audio files stored on a flash-memory device using the system remote for track selection and playback.

  •   RIHD (Remote Interactive over HDMI)

    For A/V receivers

Select Onkyo A/V receivers offer integrated system control with certain HDMI-compatible high-definition displays, DVD and hard-disk recorders, and Blu-ray Disc players. With one remote control, you can control certain functions, including Standby, Volume and Direct Change. These receivers can seamlessly integrate with other compatible playback components and displays.

    For Blu-ray Disc/DVD players

RIHD also enables selected Onkyo players to easily integrate with compatible Onkyo A/V receivers and other compatible displays. *Compatibility depends on respective model.

  •   Theater-Dimensional

Onkyo’s exclusive Theater-Dimensional circuitry takes the complexity out of conventional surround-sound setups and lets you experience the excitement of surround sound from as few as two ordinary speakers.

  •   WRAT (Wide Range Amplifier Technology)

WRAT is based around a low negative-feedback circuit topology that works to reduce signal noise and distortion across the frequency range. A “closed ground-loop circuit” design is employed, in which each circuit has a separate link to the power supply. This helps to cancel individual circuit noise and keep the ground potential free of distortion. High Instantaneous Current Capability (HICC) enables WRAT amplifiers to immediately cancel the speakers’ reflex energy and instantaneously send out the next signal. The same high current better manages speaker impedance fluctuations, which can negatively affect performance.

Users can access a library of more than 16 million tracks through selected Onkyo network-capable devices. Use the remote controller and graphical interface on your TV to search for songs, albums, and artists. It’s a revolutionary way to discover new music and enjoy old favorites, while you save on disc and shelf space.
