Affordable Home Theater Just Got Better

With the addition of Onkyo’s acclaimed WRAT (Wide Range Amplifier Technology) to its entry-level A/V receivers, home theater fans on a budget can now enjoy greater fidelity than ever before. This 5.1-channel AVR packs an array of features into a compact and stylish cabinet—all designed to perfect audio performance and seamlessly integrate your A/V components into one intelligent and powerful system. Four HDMI® inputs and one output provide connectivity for your 3D TV, gaming consoles, and BD player, while a USB port offers a clean digital link to your iPod/iPhone or flash memory drive. An HDMI-linked interactive on-screen display makes set-up and mid-program adjustment easy. Naturally, the AVR decodes a range of high-definition codecs such as Dolby® TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio™. But it’s the sound that really sets Onkyo apart, and you can rest assured that with the TX-SR313, you’re getting the precision build, power, and fidelity that you might expect from a more expensive component.

Audio Return Channel and 3D Video via HDMI®

Four HDMI inputs on the TX-SR313 allow you to easily integrate high-definition devices such as Blu-ray players, cable/satellite tuners, and gaming consoles. HDMI implementation on this receiver also supports an Audio Return Channel, allowing audio received directly by your TV’s tuner to be sent “upstream” to the A/V receiver. That means you can enjoy television programs in magnificent Onkyo sound. HDMI also supports 3D video and numerous other high-resolution formats, and has the added advantage of reducing cable clutter for a cleaner and simpler install.

Direct Digital iPod/iPhone Connection for Cleaner Sound

The receiver’s front-panel USB port lets you play MP3 and AAC stored in an iPod/iPhone, and MP3, WMA, AAC, and FLAC audio files stored on a flash-memory device, using the system’s own remote for track selection and playback. Your music will also sound much cleaner and clearer, as the audio signal is transported in digital rather than analog form through the direct digital connection.

WRAT (Wide Range Amplifier Technology) Gives Even Higher Fidelity

WRAT is a suite of innovative technologies Onkyo developed to improve signal-to-noise ratios, and enhance the fidelity of amplified audio. The technologies work to reduce noise across the frequency range, guaranteeing a well-balanced performance even with the most dynamic soundtracks. It achieves this by employing a low negative-feedback amplifier design; using “closed” ground-loop circuitry to cancel noise from individual circuits; and by ensuring high instantaneous-current capability to cancel reflex energy and impedance fluctuations from the speakers. The WRAT design has helped make Onkyo AVRs the firm favorite among discerning audio enthusiasts, and is incorporated for the first time on the entry-level TX-SR313.

  •   Dolby® TrueHD

Dolby TrueHD is Dolby’s next-generation lossless technology developed for high-definition disc-based media. Dolby TrueHD audio is bit-for-bit identical to the highest-resolution studio masters. Together with high-definition video, it offers an unprecedented home theater experience. Now listeners can enjoy sound as stunning as the high-definition picture.

  •   DTS-HD (DTS-HD Master Audio™)

DTS-HD Master Audio™ is capable of delivering audio that is bit-for-bit identical to the studio master. DTS-HD Master Audio™ delivers audio at super-high variable bit rates—24.5 Mbps on Blu-ray Disc—which is significantly higher than standard DVDs. This bit stream is so fast, and the transfer rate is so high, that it can deliver 7.1 audio channels at a sampling frequency of 24 bits—identical to the original. With DTS-HD Master Audio™, you will be able to experience movies and music exactly as the artist intended: clear, pure, and uncompromised.

  •   WRAT (Wide Range Amplifier Technology)

WRAT is based around a low negative-feedback circuit topology that works to reduce signal noise and distortion across the frequency range. A “closed ground-loop circuit” design is employed, in which each circuit has a separate link to the power supply. This helps to cancel individual circuit noise and keep the ground potential free of distortion. High Instantaneous Current Capability (HICC) enables WRAT amplifiers to immediately cancel the speakers’ reflex energy and instantaneously send out the next signal. The same high current better manages speaker impedance fluctuations, which can negatively affect performance.

  •   CinemaFILTER™

The tonal balance of a film soundtrack designed for a commercial theater will be edgy and bright when played back over audio equipment in your home. We have developed our own solution that restores the correct tonal balance of a movie soundtrack in the smaller environs of your home theater.

  •   RIHD (Remote Interactive over HDMI)
    For A/V receivers

Select Onkyo A/V receivers offer integrated system control with certain HDMI-compatible high-definition displays, DVD and hard-disk recorders, and Blu-ray Disc players. With one remote control, you can control certain functions, including Standby, Volume and Direct Change. These receivers can seamlessly integrate with other compatible playback components and displays.

    For Blu-ray Disc/DVD players

RIHD also enables selected Onkyo players to easily integrate with compatible Onkyo A/V receivers and other compatible displays. *Compatibility depends on respective model.

  •   Theater-Dimensional

For small- to medium-sized rooms, you can’t go past the well-balanced and affordable HT-S3500 home theater package.

  •   192 kHz/24-Bit Audio DACs

192 kHz/24-bit DACs enable the best possible reproduction of standard and high-definition audio formats.

  •   USB

Selected Onkyo A/V receivers, Blu-ray Players, hi-fi and stereo components feature at least one USB port. ‘Made for iPod’ and ‘Made for iPhone’ means the connection is specifically designed to interface with iPod, iPod touch, and iPhone*. ‘Direct Digital Connection’ means audio signals are transported in digital form (rather than analog) for clearer, more accurate sound. A USB port also lets you play a range of audio formats including MP3, WMA, WMA Lossless, AAC, and FLAC audio files stored on a flash-memory device using the system remote for track selection and playback.

  •   RI (Remote Interactive) Capability

Onkyo’s RI system lets you operate multiple RI-compatible components through a single remote control. RI capability also gives you further functionality with Onkyo’s Remote Interactive Dock for the iPod, including System On/System Off, Auto Power On, Auto Selector (Direct Change) and Timer functions.

  •   Made for iPod/iPhone

The “Made for iPod” and “Made for iPhone” logo on selected Onkyo products means they’ve been designed specifically to interface with these Apple devices via USB port, dock, or remote Universal Port. This mutual compatibility allows the user to control playback from the Apple devices using the Onkyo system remote controller. Signals are transported in digital form—rather than analog—via the direct-digital connection on selected models.
