Power and Quality from the Home Theater Professionals

Rediscover your favorite movies, music, and games in surround sound with the addition of this seven-channel home theater package from Onkyo. Duck for cover as Dolby® Pro Logic IIz® sends bullets whizzing over your head through two Front Height speakers, or just relax into a soundstage that’s balanced and optimized courtesy of Audyssey 2EQ® acoustic correction, Dynamic EQ®, and Dynamic Volume®. Four 3D-ready HDMI® inputs are provided to connect your gaming consoles and media players, and for music, a front-panel USB for lossless and compressed audio from iPod, iPhone, or flash drive. Invest in a UBT-1 adapter to enable Bluetooth wireless audio streaming technology, with a brilliant aptX® codec ensuring near CD-quality sound. The work of speaker selection has been done for you—a beautifully balanced eight-piece set features a dual-drive center speaker and punchy 120 W down-firing subwoofer. There’s even powered Zone 2 outputs should you wish to distribute audio in another room—say, the kitchen or deck. Easy to own, simple to use, and packing a huge amount of power for your dollar, there really is no better time to discover the joys of surround-sound entertainment.

Wireless Streaming via Optional Adapter

With an aptX® enhancement codec and improved capabilities of Bluetooth Version 3.0, the UBT-1 adapter offers wireless sound quality approaching that of CD audio. Simply plug it into the USB port to send audio from a range of electronic devices, including phones, tablets, and laptop computers.

Dolby® Pro Logic® IIz Delivers More Enveloping Soundstage

Pro Logic IIz creates a surround-sound experience from any movie or music source—even a stereo one. The system incorporates two Front Height speakers to carry ambient audio effects in a vertical dimension for more realistic action.

Audyssey 2EQ®

Audyssey 2EQ calibrates your speakers and equalizes your system to optimize the sound for the shape of your room. Measuring multiple listening positions, the system applies filters to satellites speakers to create a balanced soundstage.

Clearer Sound with Direct-Digital USB

This receiver features a front-panel USB port to connect iPod/iPhone and mass storage devices loaded with music in a variety of digital formats. The connection carries signals from your portable device to the receiver in digital form, giving a noticeable boost to audio quality.

Quality Speakers for Quality Sound

A carefully matched Onkyo speaker set delivers clear, dynamic audio reproduction. Solid two-way front speakers feature a 12 cm OMF woofer and a balanced-dome tweeter for clean, well-separated highs. The center speaker boasts twin 8 cm woofers and dome tweeter to boost the audibility of dialog in movies and TV, while an efficient 120 W subwoofer rounds out the package.

Multi-Zone Powered Audio and Zone 2 Line-Outs

This receiver features Powered Zone 2 speaker terminals and Zone 2 line-outs. This means you can drive audio in another room equipped with stereo speakers—for example, in an adjoining room, or on the deck, or in the kitchen.

  •   Audyssey 2EQ®/Dynamic Volume®

    Audyssey 2EQ®

Loudspeakers are designed to deliver sound without distortion or coloration. Nevertheless, walls, furniture and other objects reflect and absorb sound, creating distortion that is unique to your own listening space. To counter this, Audyssey 2EQ corrects problems both in frequency response and in the time domain using data collected via microphone from three critical listening positions. The results are immediately obvious—a well-balanced, immersive, coherent soundstage, dialog that’s projected from the center of the TV screen, and more convincing directional sound effects.

    Audyssey Dynamic Volume®

This technology allows you to set the volume level that you want and keep it there, without having to constantly adjust it. By anticipating sudden spikes and dips in the audio soundtrack and compensating for them in real time, Audyssey Dynamic Volume ensures consistent volume levels, regardless of the content you’re enjoying. Thanks to Audyssey Dynamic Volume, quiet dialogue is easier to pick up, loud passages retain their impact, and commercials are less intrusive.

  •   HDMI® (High-Definition Multimedia Interface)

Transporting high-definition (HD) video, 3D encoded HD video, and multi-channel HD audio, HDMI is the most desirable connection for home entertainment. Onkyo’s HDMI-enabled A/V components send and receive HD signals, connecting components such as Blu-ray Disc players, DVD players, media streamers, and gaming consoles to compatible HDTVs. Recent versions of HDMI also incorporate an ARC (Audio Return Channel) for sending audio from the TV tuner through the connected receiver, and for enabling the use of an overlaid high-definition GUI (Graphical User Interface) on Onkyo A/V receivers.

  •   Dolby® TrueHD

    Dolby® TrueHD

Dolby TrueHD is Dolby’s next-generation lossless technology developed for high-definition disc-based media. Dolby TrueHD audio is bit-for-bit identical to the highest-resolution studio masters. Together with high-definition video, it offers an unprecedented home theater experience. Now listeners can enjoy sound as stunning as the high-definition picture.

    Dolby® Pro Logic® IIz

Dolby Pro Logic IIz adds a vertical dimension to your home theater soundstage, delivering an expanded surround-sound experience from any 5.1-channel or stereo source. Dolby Pro Logic IIz enables the inclusion of two Front Height speakers into your surround-sound setup. The Height channels carry ambient, non-directional audio that helps immerse you even more deeply into your movies and games. With Dolby Pro Logic IIz, rain seems to burst from clouds right above you, and helicopters fly realistically overhead.

  •   DTS-HD (DTS-HD Master Audio™)

DTS-HD Master Audio™ is capable of delivering audio that is bit-for-bit identical to the studio master. DTS-HD Master Audio™ delivers audio at super-high variable bit rates—24.5 Mbps on Blu-ray Disc—which is significantly higher than standard DVDs. This bit stream is so fast, and the transfer rate is so high, that it can deliver 7.1 audio channels at a sampling frequency of 24 bits—identical to the original. With DTS-HD Master Audio™, you will be able to experience movies and music exactly as the artist intended: clear, pure, and uncompromised.

  •   CinemaFILTER™

The tonal balance of a film soundtrack designed for a commercial theater will be edgy and bright when played back over audio equipment in your home. We have developed our own solution that restores the correct tonal balance of a movie soundtrack in the smaller environs of your home theater.

  •   WRAT (Wide Range Amplifier Technology)

WRAT is based around a low negative-feedback circuit topology that works to reduce signal noise and distortion across the frequency range. A “closed ground-loop circuit” design is employed, in which each circuit has a separate link to the power supply. This helps to cancel individual circuit noise and keep the ground potential free of distortion. High Instantaneous Current Capability (HICC) enables WRAT amplifiers to immediately cancel the speakers’ reflex energy and instantaneously send out the next signal. The same high current better manages speaker impedance fluctuations, which can negatively affect performance.

  •   RIHD (Remote Interactive over HDMI)
    For A/V receivers

Select Onkyo A/V receivers offer integrated system control with certain HDMI-compatible high-definition displays, DVD and hard-disk recorders, and Blu-ray Disc players. With one remote control, you can control certain functions, including Standby, Volume and Direct Change. These receivers can seamlessly integrate with other compatible playback components and displays.

    For Blu-ray Disc/DVD players

RIHD also enables selected Onkyo players to easily integrate with compatible Onkyo A/V receivers and other compatible displays. *Compatibility depends on respective model.

  •   USB

Selected Onkyo A/V receivers, Blu-ray Players, hi-fi and stereo components feature at least one USB port. ‘Made for iPod’ and ‘Made for iPhone’ means the connection is specifically designed to interface with iPod, iPod touch, and iPhone*. ‘Direct Digital Connection’ means audio signals are transported in digital form (rather than analog) for clearer, more accurate sound. A USB port also lets you play a range of audio formats including MP3, WMA, WMA Lossless, AAC, and FLAC audio files stored on a flash-memory device using the system remote for track selection and playback.

  •   192 kHz/24-Bit Audio DACs

192 kHz/24-bit DACs enable the best possible reproduction of standard and high-definition audio formats.

  •   Hybrid Standby

Selected Onkyo A/V receivers feature ‘Hybrid Standby’ mode to save energy and provide greater levels of convenience. Hybrid Standby Mode provides ‘HDMI through’ functionality and maintains a local network connection while the receiver is essentially powered down. This allows the user to watch TV without turning the whole surround system on. Furthermore, when on Hybrid Standby, the home theater may be powered up from “cold” using the Onkyo Remote Apps for iPod touch/iPhone and Android.

  •   RI (Remote Interactive) Capability

Onkyo’s RI system lets you operate multiple RI-compatible components through a single remote control. RI capability also gives you further functionality with Onkyo’s Remote Interactive Dock for the iPod, including System On/System Off, Auto Power On, Auto Selector (Direct Change) and Timer functions.

  •   Made for iPod/iPhone

The “Made for iPod” and “Made for iPhone” logo on selected Onkyo products means they’ve been designed specifically to interface with these Apple devices via USB port, dock, or remote Universal Port. This mutual compatibility allows the user to control playback from the Apple devices using the Onkyo system remote controller. Users can also enjoy superior sound quality, as signals are transported in digital form—rather than analog—via the direct-digital connection on selected models.

  •   OMF (Onkyo Micro Fiber)

The OMF speaker diaphragm fibers provide a fast and accurate response. OMF is made from a pure cotton weave that helps absorb vibrations.

  •   Theater-Dimensional

Theater-Dimensional circuitry takes the complexity out of conventional surround-sound setups and lets you experience the excitement of surround sound from as few as two ordinary speakers.

  • 3D Ready

All Onkyo A/V receivers are capable of carrying high-resolution 3D video formats from source devices to your 3D-capable display via HDMI.
